Despite improved energy efficiency and built-in NPU accelerators, buyers and computer manufacturers are increasingly choosing the proven Raptor Lake, which remains a more affordable and productive solution for most tasks.
The price difference between generations is more than $200, making older models a better deal for brands like Lenovo, HP and Acer.
The increase in demand for Raptor Lake is exacerbated by limited supply, causing prices to rise. In some countries, including Japan and South Korea, the cost of individual models has already increased by more than 20%.
Experts note that the expected AI-PC boom has not happened: Users do not see compelling reasons to switch to Lunar Lake, as there are no “mandatory” AI functions yet.
At the same time, the 15-25% increase in the price of DDR4/DDR5 memory and SSDs is making new systems even cheaper, forcing manufacturers to save on processors.
Intel has not officially commented on the situation, but analysts expect price increases to continue until early 2026 until the company stabilizes demand for AI chips.
