In his view, relying on AI to rework old series could become a “dangerous creative choice” if companies stop looking for new ideas.
The statement caused heated debate on social networks and was answered by Motoi Okamoto, the producer of the Silent Hill series. He disagreed with Kojima’s view, stating that artificial intelligence cannot replace human decisions that require courage and intuition.
According to him, artificial intelligence can create and prepare a project in the spirit of Silent Hill, but decisions such as moving the action to Japan or inviting screenwriter Ryukishi07 are something only a person can do.
He also emphasized that Silent Hill f, which was released in 2025 and became the reboot of the series, was generally the result of exactly such “non-standard and risky” ideas.
