This was due to a video showing one of the robotaxis driving around a school bus with its red lights on and the brake light extended as children got off the bus.
The incident took place in Georgia. According to the agency, the car first stopped and then continued on its way, violating road safety rules.
The agency said there was a “high probability” of similar incidents occurring at the current volume of 100 million kilometers and 2 million kilometers per week.
Waymo acknowledged the incident and said it was making improvements to its school bus recognition system and new updates would be released soon.
The robotaxi operated without a driver, using a fifth-generation autopilot.
