When turned on, the device allows you to drive approximately 1,864 miles (2,999 km) per year and powers a variety of accessories even when parked. When the panel is opened, it produces 500 Watts, prevents sunlight from hitting the windshield and reduces the temperature inside the car.
In driving mode, the panel delivers 300 watts of power (80 watts in rainy weather), exceeding the Prius Prime’s 185 watts. The aerodynamic shape of the panel minimizes friction.
It is known that Nissan plans to start selling the AO-Solar Extender and exhibit it at the Japan Mobility Fair at the end of October 2025.
