MegaFon announced the completion of a project to build and connect a network in important cities of the Moscow Region.
The first company built new and upgraded base stations, as well as aggregated frequency to increase the peak speed of mobile Internet. For 4 months, it was possible to increase the number of 4G base stations in Balashikha, Korolev, Krasnogorsk, Lyubertsy, Mytishchi, Odintsovo, Podolsk, Khimki, Kolomna and Elektrostal by 35%. In places where it was installed, mobile Internet connectivity increased 3 times.
According to the operator, about 50% of all connection traffic living in large cities near Moscow is spent on social networks, video and instant messengers. For this reason, MegaFon has consolidated the use of LTE bands, which increased the connection with the peak speed of mobile Internet for subscribers in 2 bands. With the help of aggregation, it approached 5G. And the average speed in the cities of the Moscow region increased by 30%.
We pay great attention to the development of the network not only in Moscow, but also in the Moscow region.
In the first six months of this year alone, it increased by almost 30% compared to last year, primarily in satellite locations. We continue to monitor our situation: by the end of the year, we are building and modernizing networks in about 100 more settlements of the region.
