In Russia, from 2023, it is proposed to double the minimum wage (minimum salary) to 30,000 rubles. This is reported by the newspaper “Izvestia” with reference to the corresponding bill. Now the minimum wage is 15,279 rubles.

The State Duma proposed to increase the minimum wage to 30 thousand rubles.

According to the publication, a group of deputies from the Liberal Democratic Party will present a bill to the State Duma on August 11.

The deputies justify the increase by the fact that the minimum wage in Russia is much lower than in European countries. “The low level of the minimum wage leads to income differentiation, a drop in production, an extensive underground economy and an increase in social tension,” says the explanatory note.

The authors of the bill also note that the use of a new methodology for calculating the minimum wage, which is linked to the average wage, did not lead to a significant increase in the indicator.

In 2022, the indicator increased twice, the last time on June 1 (increased by 10% and amounted to 15,279 rubles).

MPs believe that growth is insufficient: according to Rosstat, in April last year, the average salary was 40,245 rubles.

Another reason is the pressure of sanctions on Russia. In such conditions, according to the deputies, it is worth reconsidering the policy regarding the population’s income.
