YouTube plans to launch a streaming service store that will allow users to subscribe to HBO Max, Apple TV and other platforms on the video hosting app. The project has the working title Channel Store.

YouTube prepares its own streaming service store

The Wall Street Journal reports on YouTube’s work in the “channel store.” The publication notes that the company has been working on the project for “at least 18 months,” and the Channel Store could launch this fall.

Initially, it will be available only in the United States, but in the future the store will open in other countries.

The platform is currently in talks with streaming services like Amazon Prime Video, Roku, and Apple TV, among others. Additionally, YouTube TV subscribers can now sign up for the HBO Max channel package for $64.99.

Sources familiar with the situation say that the terms for revenue sharing between YouTube and streaming “can be very different for different partners.”

It is noted that the competitive advantage of video hosting will be in the popularity of the site all over the world. The user will be able to watch the trailer of a movie on YouTube and, if they wish, watch the full movie by paying a subscription.
