The authors noted that women define sexual desire not only as the desire to actually have sex, but also as the need for intimacy with a partner. The study asked 299 Australian women aged 18 to 39 about libido and relationships. Three groups of participants were identified:
- in relationships where women perceive housework as equal;
- in a relationship where the woman feels that she works more;
- in relationships where women feel their partners contribute more.
It turned out that the participants in the first group experienced more sexual desire than the others. Worst of all were the women from the second group.
