Amazon announced a new initiative called “Buy with Prime” that expands the reach of the Prime membership service beyond the Amazon website.significant change in your business strategy.

Sellers who ship items using Amazon’s storage and shipping services. (known as Fulfillment by Amazon which includes all logistics) will be able to add the “Buy with Prime” option to their websites.

This will allow Prime subscribers to buy directly from these stores while retaining the benefits of Amazon’s subscription service: free shipping, overnight delivery, and free returns.

“Buy with Prime” will offer Prime subscribers more convenience and value, they explain at Amazon. but its importance to Amazon goes beyond the Prime spinoff.

launch Buy With Prime is also an extension of the company’s significant presence in the logistics sector. and a way to compete with rival e-commerce platform Shopify (known in the US for allowing stores to quickly create their own storefronts).

If you sell your products on Amazon.com, you benefit from having your products showcased in one of the largest storefronts on the web.with programs like Fulfillment by Amazon and Amazon Prime that make shipping easier and faster for you and your customers.

But you also have Amazon looking over your shoulder, collecting data about what you sell.with the threat that it could clone your product and put you out of business (the company has been accused of this in several antitrust lawsuits).

This is why Shopify did such a good job with Amazon. It doesn’t have its own marketplace for shoppers, but instead provides SMBs with the tools to quickly set up their own stores, in theory replicating the ease and simplicity of the Amazon experience.

However, By offering Prime benefits on its own merchant sites, Amazon is loosening its grip on customer relationships a bit.which can ease tensions with outside companies and stores.

As an Amazon executive highlights in a blog post announcing the initiative: “Enabling merchants to offer the benefits of Prime shopping in their own direct-to-consumer online stores is an important step in our mission to help merchants of all sizes grow their businesses.“.

These benefits are not free, because Amazon will charge sellers various undisclosed fees for offering Prime on its websites. Without a doubt one of Amazon’s most important moves in over a decade in the sector.
