The launch of a new soundbar from Sonos at a previously untouched price range is imminent. The Model S36, codenamed Fury, is expected to launch on June 7 for $249. That’s almost half of the second generation Beam. This can be seen in the number of speakers and other functions available.

Chris Welch of The Verge, who also showed off Sonos’ previous soundbar prior to the announcement, saw photos of the soundbar and shared renders based on them. Due to the smaller number of speakers, the dimensions are quite compact with 550 x 69 x 100 millimeters. Features like Dolby Atmos support and microphones for volume control are also omitted. It seems that an HDMI port is also missing and the audio connection needs to be established via optical cable.

Available in a Dolby Digital surround sound 5.1 setup with compatible Sonos speakers. Sonos expects a significant number of customers to use the new soundbar as surround speakers for the luxury Sonos Arc. Therefore, a wall mount bracket is made, on which Fury can be placed not only horizontally, but also vertically. This should better show the elevation channels.

Sonos has not yet made a statement about the S36 soundbar model. A spokesperson said it would not comment on rumors or speculation.
