210 people participated in the study conducted by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention. All of them were divided into two groups. One group ate 80 g of rice every day for 45 days, the second – 80 g of oatmeal. At day 45, those who ate rice had a 5.7% and 5.8% reduction in total and “bad” cholesterol, respectively, and those who ate oatmeal had a 3% and 3.9% reduction.

It turns out that oatmeal contributes to a greater reduction in cholesterol levels than rice. This finding was published in the medical journal Frontiers in Immunology.
