Since August 2, the American corporation Google has provided Russian users with new ways to pay for purchases in the Google Play application store. Google Play’s internal payment system is still down due to sanctions.

Google allowed Russian users to use alternative payment methods on Google Play

“If you are having trouble receiving payments, we recommend that you use an alternative payment method, such as an account at another bank or an electronic wallet that you can send a payment to,” the corporation said in a statement.

Please note that the user will see alternative options when adding a new payment method to their account.

In July, the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service issued a warning to Google regarding “abuse of a dominant position” and demanded that within a month it would be possible to pay for purchases on Google Play using alternative methods. Otherwise, the FAS would have initiated a process for violation of the antitrust law.

Payments in Google Play and the App Store were limited to Russians on March 10, but the possibility of installing free applications or updating those already purchased remained.

On iOS, you can pay for purchases with your mobile phone bill.
