Apple sent out a letter to service centers saying that it added some iPod models to the list announced on September 30th.

This includes the late 2012 iPod shuffle built from the iPod nano 7 and iPod touch 5. Obsolete refers to devices discontinued more than 5 years ago and less than 7 years ago. Service centers repair them only if spare parts are available.
