Monkeypox in a gym is more likely to spread through dirty equipment or shared towels. It should also be used by people who themselves have recently or are currently suffering from this infection. That’s why Dr. Thomas Giordano recommends wiping dumbbells, weight machines, barbells and yoga mats before and after use. Also, it’s best not to share your towel with anyone at the gym.
If you’re not sure whether the sports equipment has been cleaned, take liquids containing 60-70% ethanol or isopropyl alcohol from your home with you. You can also wear clothing that covers the entire body for added protection. And do not forget to wash your hands, wash clothes and towels after training.
If you put a towel over the equipment in the gym, try to keep it in this position in all simulators. At the same time, try to touch the side of the towel above the equipment as little as possible.
Most often, monkeypox is transmitted through skin contact. Therefore, it makes sense not to wear a t-shirt in the gym for a while and not go to training without a shirt.
