High blood pressure is most common in men, those whose relatives suffer or suffer from hypertension, as well as people who were born prematurely or have obstructive sleep apnea. In addition, if you want to protect your health and prevent high blood pressure, you should avoid the following foods.

  1. Fermented/preserved in pickled foods. Pickles and similar foods are high in sodium. Alternatively, you can use a citrus or vinegar dressing that is much less salty.

  2. frozen foods. The problem is that many of these dishes contain large amounts of salt. Therefore, be sure to look at the label before purchasing this product.

  3. instant soups. They are also very salty. They also contain less fiber than regular soups.

  4. Salt. Instead of re-salting the food, add herbs or spices (eg curry, parsley, turmeric, pepper, etc.).

  5. Bread. There are two options here: either buy bread for hypertensive patients or use rye, whole grain or sourdough bread.

  1. Bouillon cubes, soy sauce, mustard. They have a lot of “hidden salts”, and this is very dangerous for hypertension. Therefore, it is better to use “homemade” vegetable seasonings in the cooking process.

  2. Fast foods. Such dishes often contain a lot of sugar and fat. Therefore, try to eat homemade foods instead.

  3. cold meat. This meat contains a large amount of fat and salt. Also, with high blood pressure, give up smoked salmon (eat lightly salted or fresh instead), canned mackerel (it is better to take fried fish).

  4. licorice candies. The fact is that licorice contains glycyrrhizic acid, so the potassium level drops, blood pressure rises, and the body retains water.

  5. Grapefruit Juice. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration states that this type of juice, as well as fresh grapefruit, may reduce the effectiveness of some hypertension medications and increase the side effects of these medications.

  6. Cheese. Feta cheese, halloumi, moldy cheeses (blue, roquefort), processed cheeses are harmful in high blood pressure. At the same time, mozzarella, parmesan, ricotta and Emmental are quite safe for hypertension.
