Last week, AMD and its partners quietly released the Radeon RX 6400. TechPowerUp has now started working with MSI’s version of Aero Itx, which shows that the low-end RDNA 2 card cannot be overclocked. The website reports that the oc panel on AMD Wattman shows the ‘custom’ option, but doesn’t post any settings to adjust.

While TechPowerUp’s test sample isn’t unlocked, that doesn’t mean all RX 6400-based boards are unlocked. It may also be possible for AMD to add this functionality in a future update. It is also possible to overclock with programs such as MSI Afterburner. As more users buy such a model, it should become clear how the fork is in the stem.

RX 6400 cards have a modest cooler.

The TPU review shows that the RX 6400 matches the performance level of the GTX 1650. Like the RX 6500 XT, this GPU has to make do with four PCIe 4.0 lanes, which hurt performance when plugged into an older PCIe 3.0 slot.

The first special models are now included in the product comparator. The aforementioned MSI card is the cheapest with a starting price of 193 euros, while the Asus Dual version has the highest minimum price (233 euros).
