Data are based on anonymous statistics on triggering Kaspersky Lab solutions for the period January-September 2022. Attackers use thief viruses (Trojan horses) to steal passwords and credentials from browsers and instant messengers for computers. The most common is the RedLine Trojan.

These viruses find information in Windows system files or registry. The viruses then send the data to crooks. Threats are aimed at both ordinary users and authors and bloggers of Telegram channels.

Also, such viruses download and install third-party applications, which are an additional “load” on the computer. They can execute commands in cmd.exe – Windows command line files, follow links in browsers.

Sources of viruses are spam and third-party downloaders of apps that claim to be necessary and free. Kaspersky Lab also said that it is not uncommon for such programs to be distributed under the guise of promotional offers.
