IKEA has laid off 10 of 12,000 employees in Russia, said Jesper Brodin, head of Ingka Group, the company that runs it. It was previously reported that the retailer wants to keep some of the staff so that it can return to the Russian market in the foreseeable future.

The head of the Ingka Group, the management company of IKEA, Jesper Brodin, personally announced the dismissal of 10 thousand employees. According to him, the current year has challenged everything in the world, mainly due to rising inflation and an unstable geopolitical situation.

IKEA’s plans to lay off some employees in Russia were revealed in June. At the same time, the company announced the start of a search for buyers of Russian assets, which include four plants. In order to be able to return to the Russian market after the situation stabilizes, IKEA intends to retain around 700 employees.
