Tofu is sometimes called tofu. The composition of this product mainly includes soybeans, water, coagulant (calcium sulfate). Tofu can also come in many varieties.
The USDA states that half a cup of firm tofu contains 21.8 grams of protein, 181 calories and 11 grams of fat. However, most of this fat is healthy polyunsaturated fat.
Tofu can be a great meat substitute, as it’s high in protein. Additionally, tofu contains all the essential amino acids as well as vitamins and minerals.
In 2020, a study was published that found that people who ate at least one serving of tofu per week were 18% less likely to develop heart disease than those who rarely ate tofu. It was also known in 2021 that if you ate soy four or more days a week, the chance of dying from a heart attack was less than for people who never or rarely ate it.
However, soy products, including tofu, are a cause for concern for some. The thing is, tofu contains isoflavones, which act as a weak form of estrogen. But these concerns that soy causes male infertility or other health problems are unscientific.
