It was noted that in January 2022, more than 28 million subscribers of MTS increased the cost of service by 9.5%, after which the company cited increased costs. However, the FAS did not give any approval in this regard.

In August, MTS again increased the cost of services by 8.4% for some tariffs, and in September and October 2022, prices for all remaining tariffs increased by an average of 9.7%.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service was acquainted with the increase in prices for operator services, but concluded that these increases were not justified by technological, economic or other reasons and violated antitrust laws, which MTS was ordered to lower tariffs on.

“Thus, the total increase in tariffs for 28 million subscribers in 2022 exceeded 20 percent, while the consumer price index was 10.5 percent as of the end of August,” said FAS.
