NRU ITMO specialists are developing a technology for detecting lies and searching for deep falsifications of video recordings for the Main Radio Frequency Center (GRC) subordinate to Roskomnadzor, Kommersant learned.

Roskomnadzor will test lie detection and deep fake detection technology

The service was called Expert, it works on the basis of artificial intelligence, with the help of it it will be possible to check videos of speeches for lies and manipulations, as well as quickly identify deep fakes.

Deepfake is a data synthesis method that allows you to replace image elements in original videos. With the help of technology, fake videos are created with statements from famous personalities, including politicians.

The ITMO newspaper reported that Expert analyzes video or audio and evaluates trust, the level of internal and external aggression, congruence (the level of consistency of information that is transmitted verbally and non-verbally) and inconsistency, compares words with scientific articles and statements of other specialists

Now that the system has been fine-tuned to work with the English language, refinement to get text from Russian speech is “in the near future,” said Oleg Basov, director of NCCR ITMO’s “Cognitive Non-Verbalism” research lab. .
