Amazon has announced an upgrade to its Prime membership, which includes streaming video, free shipping, and other benefits. The subscription now includes 100 million ad-free songs and podcasts for use in the Amazon Music app.

Previously, Amazon Music was already part of the subscription plan, but it had limitations. By paying for the company’s perk service, subscribers were able to listen to only 2 million songs, making the upgrade a significant improvement for audiophiles.

It’s important to note that despite the 50x increase in the downloadable music catalog, there are still limitations. As Amazon points out, tracks can only be played randomly with a Prime subscription – you’ll need to be a Music Unlimited subscription member to get all the benefits, including better sound quality.

In addition to 100 million songs, Amazon highlights the presence of exclusive and famous podcasts in ad-free subscription. The company points out that the catalog includes journalistic productions from CNN and the New York Times, as well as special programs such as Suspect: Vanished in the Snow and MrBallen Podcast: Strange, Dark & ​​Mysterious Stories available in English.

New after price increase

The addition of new features to the Amazon Prime subscription comes after the service received a price hike this year in Brazil and elsewhere. The value of the service in Europe rose to 43% in July.

Adjustment in Brazil took place in May 2022: monthly plan increased from R$9.90 to R$14.90, annual version increased from R$89 to R$119. In addition to the music streaming service, the subscription has other benefits. From free shipping on Amazon purchases to access to Prime Video with series like men and Lord of the Rings.
