To celebrate Alexa’s third anniversary in Brazil this week, Amazon is launching a new experience for the virtual assistant in the country: Amazon ChildrenA set of special features targeting families with children up to 12 years old via Echo devices.
After the kids profile is set up for your kids, they can access some different Alexa responses than adults. The assistant will be able to recognize the voices of the crowd and respond in a more playful way. Provides parents with usage history and parental control view via Parental Control Panel🇧🇷
How to set up Alexa features for families
To set up a child profile for children, parents can use the Alexa app to create their Voice ID and/or Visual ID. So the AI will be able to recognize small users and tailor the experience. Path: Settings > Your Profile and Family.
For families with a recognizable child profile, Alexa offers:
- help while playing: access to kid-friendly stories, skills and jokes;
- Restricting songs with adult contentEnabling the explicit content filter via the Main Control Panel
- Features check: Parents decide whether they can control their children’s smart home devices and which audio or video contacts they can set up.
- children’s habits: Available via the Parental Control Panel with Amazon Kids Alexa activities and access to in-app voice recording history.
As for the features available for a device in Amazon Kids mode, they are as follows:
- schedule bedtime: specific times for weekdays or weekends to prevent minors from interacting with Alexa until late at night;
- Respiration: for example for homework or family dinner time.
