Russian retailers have begun replacing Apple-branded areas in their stores with showcases from lesser-known manufacturers from “friendly” countries, notably China and Turkey, Izvestia has found.

Russian retailers began closing down Apple-branded areas

A brand zone is a place where customers can get acquainted with one or another manufacturer’s model and compare the product with the products of other companies.

The network of electronics and home appliances “M.Video-Eldorado” began to get rid of branded zones with iPhone and other devices of the American corporation. In total, since the beginning of the year, the network has opened about a thousand such locations, we are talking about branded zones of brands such as Hisense, Grundig, Realme, Tecno. The network clarified that the presence of such zones increases the demand for products of a particular brand by 20-35%.

Mobile operator Megafon still has separate Apple counters in its showrooms, but the company is already setting up brand zones for its Chinese rivals, notably Realme and Tecno. Tele2, in turn, arranged interactive screens on the Xiaomi-branded tables.

According to Eldar Murtazin, a lead analyst at Mobile Research Group, retailers see no reason to support Apple’s dedicated zones, since the provider does not pay for their support.
