The growth rate of salaries of IT specialists in Russia slowed down in 2022. Although they are still growing, they are no longer so fast: if in 2021 the average salary of an IT specialist in Moscow increased by 56%, then in 2022 it will grow only 19%.

The growth rate of salaries of IT specialists in Russia slowed down in 2022: study

The Rabota.ru and Sbermarketing service conducted a study of the salaries of IT specialists in Russia.

In 2022, IT specialist salaries did not grow as significantly as in 2021; experts explain this by the increased demand for IT specialists in 2021 and the effect of a high base for comparison with 2022.

If in 2021, compared to 2020, the average salary of an IT specialist in Moscow increased by 56%, then in 2022, compared to 2020, the salary increased by 19%. For St. Petersburg, the ratio is 33% against 23%, for other regions of Russia – 19% against 15%.

Employers’ preferences have also changed: in 2022 they are more interested in specialists with at least two years of experience. The company needs employees who don’t need to be constantly trained and kept under control, the study authors noted.

Only half of the candidates in the IT field have higher education, one in five have no work experience. This further increases the gap between supply and demand in the IT job market, experts explain.
