Elon Musk has suffered the most losses among the world’s billionaires, but is still the richest

Elon Musk’s fortune is estimated at $169.8 billion, having decreased by $100.5 billion since the beginning of 2022, Bloomberg writes. In November 2021, Musk’s fortune was estimated at $340 billion, so the billionaire lost about 70% of his fortune in one year.

At the same time, Musk retains the status of the richest businessman on the planet. On the Bloomberg Billionaires Index list, the Tesla boss beat out his closest competitor, Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy group chairman Bernard Arnault, by $13 billion.

Elon Musk’s declining status was affected by a significant drop in the value of the shares of electric car maker Tesla, whose main shareholder is the billionaire. Since early 2022, Tesla shares have fallen more than 50% to a two-year low.
