At the end of events, something happened that was previously impossible in the field of emulators. The Nintendo Switch emulator appeared on macOS. And not just some kind of emulator, but with full support for Apple ARM processors.

For the first time in history, emulation of the Nintendo Switch – a console fit for the NVidia Tegra portable processor generation – is practically possible. without emulation as such.

Project developers Ryujinx found to make an emulator for M1 and M2 processors on Mac which launches Switch games in native mode. The result is amazing.

Even a basic MacBook Air with an M1 processor right now allows you to play “switch” titles with the appropriate graphics, feature, and frame rate than the console itself.

And yes, gamepads are unexpected, if anything.

I got infected with the new Ryujinx by exiting these on my Macs and share the findings. After a couple of months, owners of modern Apple computers are playing at least 90% of the Switch game libraries at the highest loading level of Windows PCs with RTX 3090-level graphics cards.

And it’s not even about the development of legality.

What You Need to Run Ryujinx on Your Next Mac

Here is the full content, I will not bring it here, I will only give you support for the most important thing. You will change:

▪ computer with M1 or M2 processor of any version. I see no point in trying to do something on other Macs.

▪ Hacked (!) Nintendo Switch, with which you can remove firmware dumps and keys.

▪ actually, firmware dumps and keys from the same Switch firmware version.

▪ game dumps from Switch cartridges you have.

I know, it’s a shame – for a second of the attack, most of the readers “fell off”. It remains only to invite them to look for a solution to the issue on the Internet. I think it exists.

My Nintendo Switch of the first generation was just hacked, so I dumped the firmware for myself without any problems, took out the keys, and even successfully “dumped” the cartridges.

The Ryujinx emulator itself weighs 300 megabytes, runs on macOS and is available for free on the official website. It’s a fast code project on Github, so you don’t have to worry about security.

What are your experiences with Nintendo Switch emulation on Mac?

I wonder what kind of game this is, I don’t even know.

In short, I’m delighted.

Unfortunately, it does not work for Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and several other major games from Nintendo. But a lot of things “plow” chic.

For example, Super Mario 3D World, Bowser’s Fury, Pokemon Arceus, Pokemon Shield, Pokemon Violet, Pokemon Shield, Persona 5 Royal.

In Pokemon, the emulator gives out 30 FPS, just like in the game itself. There are drawdowns sometimes on the M2, there are no drawdowns on the M1 Max – and in any case, the game works much better than on the Switch.

All this is not just usage. Without touching any settings, I got my MacBook Air with an M2 processor to have better graphics in all games than my own Nintendo Switch had previously demonstrated. Frame rate max.

Managed to connect via USB-C to the emulator and gamepad Switch Pro Controller. The beauty!

Let me remind you, here are the settings for setting up Ryujinx, and here you can download the emulator itself. Test, write impressions of insults.
