AMD has unveiled new Ryzen 7040 laptop processors at CES 2023 that will compete with the M1 Pro chip and the yet-to-be-released M2.

The flagship AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS processor has 8 cores, 16 threads and a frequency of 5.2 GHz. The company claims that it is 30% faster than the M1 Pro.

In multi-processor workloads, the Ryzen 9 7940HS is 34% faster than the M1 Pro and 20% faster than the M2 in AI workloads. How the results were compared with the M2, which has not yet been released, AMD did not specify.

All Ryzen 7040 series processors are based on the 4nm process technology. Ultrabook video company with Ryzen 7040 will run 30 hours.

Ryzen 7040 chips will be released to laptop manufacturers in March 2023.
