The number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in 2022 increased by 2% compared to 2021; as of December 10, 5.97 million companies were registered in Russia. The information in this regard is found in the Single Registry of Small and Medium Enterprises of the Federal Tax Service.

Small and medium-sized enterprises in Russia increased the number of employees by 4% during the year

The number of employees of these companies increased by 4% during the year. As of December 10, 2022 there were 15.2 million employees of SMEs, as of December 10, 2021 – 14.6 million.

The Central Federal District (FD) accounts for 32% of small and medium-sized enterprises, 17% are registered in the Volga Federal District, 11% in each of the North-Western and Southern Federal Districts, 10% in the Siberian Federal District, 8% belongs to the Ural Federal District, 5% to the Far Eastern Federal District, 3% to the North Caucasian Federal District.

The register of the Federal Tax Service contains data on individual entrepreneurs and legal entities. The self-employed are not included in this registry.
