Google Pixel Watch 2 was released this Wednesday (4). Google’s second-generation smartwatches repeat the look of its predecessor, but promises greater autonomy, lighter body and control via side buttons and rotating crown.

There are very few differences in this new generation Pixel Watch, but they should be significant in terms of extending the life of the device. The watch has a Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 processor and 2 GB RAM, which is superior to the Exynos 9110 in the first model.

Pixel Watch 2 is made of aluminum, lighter and cheaper than stainless steel. From the outside, it has the same round appearance as the first Pixel Watch. The 1.2-inch AMOLED display has a resolution of 384 x 384 pixels.

The main difference of the Pixel Watch 2 is the aluminum body, which is lighter than the stainless steel found in the first model. The fact that the material is recycled and significantly lighter makes the device more comfortable. It also has 5ATM/IP68 protection certification (waterproof and dustproof).

Just like its predecessor, Pixel Watch 2’s battery promises to last 24 hours, even in always-on display mode.

Integration with Google ecosystem

The biggest advantage of Pixel Watch 2 is its close integration with the Google ecosystem. It runs Wear OS 4, the Android-based giant’s operating system that promises practicality and a complete experience across the company’s various apps such as Gmail and Google Wallet.

It has the Fitbit app to natively track sleep, heart rate, physical activity, and push everything to data from your Google account. The sensors of the new watch are even more powerful and show exercise numbers more accurately.

Fitbit subscribers also get tools like: Security control and location sharing even if there is no internet connection in emergency situations.

Price and availability

Pixel Watch 2 will be sold for $349 (R$1,800, in direct conversion) in Wi-Fi versions and $399 (R$2,000) in LTE versions. The user will be given 6 months of Fitbit Premium as a gift. There are no predictions regarding the launch of the watch in Brazil.
