users 3rd party Twitter apps have trouble logging in in services this Friday (13). Affected software includes Tweetbot, Echofon and Twitterrific, three of the main platforms adding other tools to the social network.

“We hope this is just a temporary glitch and we’ll let you know more when we know more,” they added.

We are aware that Twitterrific is having trouble communicating with Twitter. We don’t know yet what the root cause is, but we’re trying to find it. Please stay tuned and apologize.

We are aware of connection issues that seem to affect other Twitter clients as well. We are working hard to discover and resolve the issue. Twitter has not yet responded. Thanks for your patience.

Tweetbot creator Paul Hadad used Mastodon to talk about the problem. “I’m hoping that what’s going on on Twitter is an automated spam protection bot incorrectly suspending appropriate apps,” he said.
Twitterrific’s officials also reported the situation this morning. On Twitter itself, the app third party it doesn’t work and “they don’t know what the root is, but we’re trying to figure it out”.
The app’s developer, Sean Heber, questioned on Mastodon whether Twitter “kills third-party apps”.
What causes problems?
For now, it’s unclear what causes the sign-in and communication issues between Twitter and third-party apps. However TechCrunch Note that changes to the API can be the source of these errors.
Also, this could be a new policy of the blue bird social network after the arrival of the responsible Elon Musk. Under the billionaire’s tutelage, the platform has already shut down programs like the Twitter Toolbox for App Discovery. Musk even threatened to ban links from Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon and other social networks.
