The Government of the Russian Federation will allocate only 24.6 billion rubles from the budget for the development of artificial intelligence (AI) until 2030, while previously 56.8 billion rubles were allocated for these purposes until 2024. This is reported Kommersant with reference to the roadmap of the Ministry of Economy for the development of artificial intelligence.

The Government has cut funding for the development of artificial intelligence until 2030

The amount of expected extra-budgetary funds has further decreased: from 334 billion rubles by 2024 to 111 billion rubles by 2030.

The 2019 concept assumed that by 2024 the volume of the domestic market for AI technologies will be 160 billion rubles, but now this figure has dropped to 14 billion rubles.

According to the new document, AI in Russia will be developed in four areas: “natural language processing and speech synthesis”, “computer vision”, “promising artificial intelligence methods” and “intelligent decision support”.

Kommersant also reports that on January 16, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko signed an agreement with companies, funds, universities and other structures that will implement these projects. Among the artists are Sberbank, RDIF, the Skolkovo Foundation, a total of 30 participants.
