The relevant committee of the State Duma made a proposal to amend the government decree on the introduction of a moratorium on inspections of the IT business. Deputy Alexander Khinshtein wrote about this on his telegram channel.
The government introduced a three-year moratorium on IT business inspections in March 2022. This moratorium also includes checks related to personal data leaks. The deputies proposed to weaken the moratorium and ensure that Roskomnadzor could freely perform its duties, Khinshtein wrote.
The Ministry of Digital Development is developing a bill on the introduction of billing fines for companies for data leaks. The agency proposed limiting them to 3% of the organization’s annual revenue.
According to DLBI, leaks that occurred in 2022 led to 85% of Russia’s working-age population entering the data network. More than 109 million Russian phone numbers and 99.8 million email addresses have been hacked.
