Last year, a record 20,135 companies with foreign capital were opened in Turkey since 2010. Most of the foreign companies were created by Russian citizens.
According to Anadolu, citing data from the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, 1,363 companies with Russian capital participation were opened in 2022: 140 joint-stock companies and 1,223 limited liability companies.
Citizens of Iran (1,300 companies) and Germany (484) also ranked in the top 3 according to this indicator. The number of new foreign companies in Turkey increased by 50% from 13,445 last year.
Most of the companies that appeared in Turkey in 2022 started working in wholesale trade – 3070 companies. They are followed in popularity by the real estate sector (1043), commercial and other services (938).
Almost two thirds of the companies (62%) founded by foreigners were in Istanbul, almost 12.5 thousand organizations. Also, citizens of Russia and other countries preferred to open a business in Antalya (1648) and Ankara (821).
