Underwater parking for 7,000 bicycles has been opened near the central stop of Amsterdam.

The construction of the facility worth €60 million lasted four years. After construction was completed, the roof was flooded.

The parking lot is divided into two large parts. The first one is already open. It includes 6,300 individual bikes and 700 rental bikes. The second half was observed, expected by 4000 bikes.

The city estimates that 200,000 people arrive at Amsterdam Station every year. Half of them arrive by bike. They left the bikes outside but will now keep them warm and protected.

The first day parking is free for everyone. Each subsequent day of parking costs €1.35 or ~100 rubles. The descent and ascent to the parking was carried out through the escalator on the street. [The Verge]
