The chicken was bred in the lab by UPSIDE Foods. The journalist described the texture of the artificial meat as “smooth”, “close to the original”, but “slightly unnatural”. The taste was “almost a mix of chicken and fish”.
The journalist also said that after tasting it, he “experienced a strange gas formation” for the rest of the day. Of course, one cannot be sure exactly what caused the gas formation from an artificial chicken, but the journalist thought it was important to mention it.
