According to representatives of the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute, ground equipment for Starlink is preventing weather satellites from collecting data due to temperature changes caused by the equipment’s operation.
A representative of the institute noted that the heat generated by the Starlink antennas creates prominent clouds of vapor visible from satellites. This is particularly evident in the Arctic, where research stations are located.
Experts agree that to solve this problem, either Starlink will improve its equipment or scientists will have to exclude areas with satellite dishes from their observations.
Recall that SpaceX agreed not so long ago with the National Science Foundation to reduce the brightness of Starlink satellites to seventh magnitude. This will be done in order not to interfere with the work of astronomers.
