The service for joint remote work Miro with the founders of Perm intends to lay off 119 people, 7% of the staff. This will help reduce costs and focus on priority areas.

Unicorn company Miro with founders from Perm will reduce staff by 7%

The head of Miro Andrey Khusid emphasized that the platform has grown significantly in the last three years. However, a startup, like many other companies, is no stranger to the “macroeconomic situation”.

The company promised to pay severance payments to the laid off employees, provide them with benefits and help build a resume to keep them looking for work.

The company in fiscal 2024 intends to reduce the cost of hiring, travel and corporate events. This will allow for more flexible investment in priority areas for service.

  • Miro was founded in 2011 by Perm natives Andrey Khusid (now the CEO) and Oleg Shardin. The company started out as RealtimeBoard but changed its name in 2019.
  • The first office of the platform was located in Perm, now the startup’s headquarters are in Amsterdam and San Francisco. As a result of the latest investment round, Miro raised $400 million and achieved a valuation of $17.5 billion.
  • In March 2022, Miro closed their office in Russia, revealing that they “no longer have employees in this country.” The startup promised to help Russian employees with relocation. In May, the company started the procedure for the liquidation of the Russian division.
