The announcement comes after Alphabet reported disappointing financial results in the fourth quarter. Google’s parent company’s profits fell by more than a third, according to the report.
“Over the coming weeks and months, we will open up access to our language models so that people can directly interact with them; LaMDA will be first in line.”
Pichai noted that Google’s priority will be “responsible” artificial intelligence, which will help avoid issues of bias and wrong answers that are inherent in technology that learns from user-generated content.
