Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that “new generation trains” will appear in the Moscow metro from 2026. One of their main features may be the possibility of unmanned control and autonomous movement.

Sobyanin spoke about the development of an unmanned metro in Moscow

As stated in Sobyanin’s Telegram account, work is already underway on the creation of an unmanned metro. In addition, the “new generation train” will be more spacious, “its doors will have a record width”, and the interior of the carriages will be “even quieter and more comfortable”.

The mayor of Moscow noted that more than 90% of the components for the production of metropolitan trains are produced by Russian companies.

According to the politician, in 2024 the trains will be modernized:

  • The interiors will change, the design of the main car will be updated;

  • There will be more amenities for people with reduced mobility;

  • The trains will be “even quieter and more comfortable”;

  • “Modern” chargers will be installed.

Sobyanin also said that in 2023, 300 new Moscow-2020 cars will appear in the capital, and within three years the city authorities will buy another 800 of these cars.
