According to experts, awkwardness when riding an elevator with strangers is largely related to one’s personal space. As the results of a study conducted by the University of Wroclaw in Poland showed, people from England felt uncomfortable when a stranger stood within one meter of them. And in many elevators, this is hardly avoidable.
