Ken Pillonell replaced the Lightning connector with USB-C on the 1st Gen AirPods Pro.

Pillonel learned how to properly use the inside of the AirPods Pro from the case and bring them up to work. If he just cut the case, he managed to replace the port, but the headphones did not work.

To add USB-C, the YouTuber created a new circuit board, which he connected to another AirPods Pro component, and then inserted them into a new dongle, advertising on a 3D printer.

The engineer posted all the instructions in the public domain, so you can get it yourself, upon receipt and availability of the necessary equipment.

To the point: World’s only iPhone X with USB-C successfully sold on eBay for $86,000

For those who can’t do this but want AirPods Pro with USB-C, the blogger suggests buying modified headphones. The whole process of the proposal: the person pays for the purchase → Pillonel purchases AirPods Pro 1st generation and changes from Lightning to USB-C → you see the headphones to the buyer. AirPods Pro with USB-C cost 299 Swiss francs or ~23.55 rubles.

Pillonel’s website also sells a USB-C PCB for AirPods for 34.9 Swiss francs. [The Verge]
