Magnesium is involved in hundreds of different regulatory and metabolic processes: protein synthesis, bone tissue building, glucose uptake, etc. Basically, the deficiency of this substance develops due to six factors:

  1. Stress.
  2. Strenuous physical work.
  3. Alcohol abuse.
  4. Exposure to high temperatures: hot climate, hot workshops, excessive visits to baths.
  5. Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  6. Hormonal contraception.

It can also affect nutrition. For example, mainly consumption of meat, poultry, potatoes, milk, dairy products, as well as salty ones.

Magnesium deficiency can manifest itself in the form of cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, chronic fatigue syndrome, sleep disorders, vascular diseases, increased neuromuscular excitability. However, self-diagnosis is not worth it. If you suspect a deficiency, you should consult your doctor.

The daily norm of magnesium intake: 65 mg for children 1-3 years old, 110 mg for 4-10 years old and 350 mg for adolescents and adults.

For prevention, experts recommend purchasing special filters. As an example, there are several such models on the Russian market – there are filters of the BARRIER ACTIVE series of the Barrier brand. They enrich the water to a magnesium content of about 40 mg/l.
