FT: Kazakhstan will launch a system to control the re-export of goods to Russia on April 1

The control program for imported and exported goods in Kazakhstan will start working on April 1, according to the Financial Times. A Kazakh official told the newspaper about this. With the help of the system, it will be possible to track the entire journey of goods from border to border in real time.

The interlocutor of the newspaper clarified that Kazakhstan does not want to become a platform to circumvent Western sanctions, but will not impose restrictions on trade with Russia.

By the end of 2022, the volume of Kazakhstan’s exports to Russia increased by 25% to $8.8 billion. For example, last year Kazakhstan supplied $3.7 million worth of semiconductors to Russia versus $12,000 in 2021, the Financial Times notes.
