A survey of 1,000 British adults found that two-thirds of people are more likely to date someone whose profile picture is a dog. Six out of ten people surveyed believe that owning a dog is a good sign that the person is ready for a serious relationship and has calmed down. In addition, dog owners are more sociable, active and empathetic, according to survey respondents.
In another study, 296 college students were shown photos of a man or woman alone or with a dog. Participants were asked to rate how frightening and threatening they thought the people in the photo were. Most would feel safer with their dog owners.
