Russian oil companies last year set a ten-year record for the number of kilometers of wells drilled. At the same time, foreign countries introduced a ceiling for Russian oil, and Russia itself decided to voluntarily cut production in March by 500,000 barrels per day.
At the end of 2022, Russian oil companies drilled wells to a total depth of more than 28,000 km. Bloomberg reports it.
The agency clarified that this figure was a record for Russian oil companies in the last 10 years. The total number of open wells also increased – there are 7.8 thousand. Compared to 2021, the number of wells increased by 120% at Tatneft, at Gazprom Neft it became 13.9% more, at Lukoil – 7.8%.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak earlier said that Russia would voluntarily cut oil production by 500,000 barrels per day in March. EU countries and the United States have previously introduced a maximum price for Russian oil.
Bloomberg spoke about a scheme implemented in Singapore, whereby Russian oil is mixed with other grades and sold while circumventing sanctions.
