A government commission approved a deal to sell three of IKEA’s four factories in Russia. The companies were owned by the kitchen company Slotex and the lumber company Luzales.
Details of the deal were not disclosed, Izvestia reported, citing Deputy Trade and Industry Minister Viktor Yevtukhov.
The capacities left by the Swedish company will continue to work in Russia. The products will be sold in local retail chains.
According to Spark-Interfax, Slotex belongs to Svetlana Osipova, the company operates from St. Petersburg. Luzales is owned by Maria Semenyuk, the legal address of the company is in Syktyvkar.
IKEA stores in Russia and Belarus suspended work in early March, and production at factories was also temporarily halted. The company then explained the decision by failures in the supply chains due to the situation in Ukraine. The management of the company promised to maintain all the working conditions of the employees until the end of August.
In June, the company announced its intention to sell the four Russian factories in the Moscow, Leningrad, Kirov and Novgorod regions. The goods were claimed by AFK Sistema, the developer PIK, the manufacturer of slabs for floors and furniture Kronospan.
