The Russian government continues to work on the issue of a voluntary contribution to the budget from business representatives, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said. Now the idea of additional taxes from a part of an increase in the financial result is considered.
Earlier, Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Sazanov said that the voluntary contribution could become mandatory. However, he later argued that it was not about raising or lowering existing taxes.
As Siluanov said on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel, business representatives do not mind “sharing with the state.”
“Now we are actively discussing with the companies. We agreed that special modifications to the tax legislation will be prepared and, most likely, this participation will be in the form of quotas from the companies of a part of the increase in financial results of recent years”, said the minister.
Authorities are currently considering 2022 and 2021 versus 2019 and 2020.
Earlier this month, Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov announced that the Russian government would ask companies to make a one-time voluntary contribution to the federal budget. It was about the profit received in 2022.
According to the Ministry of Finance forecasts, this year’s budget deficit is expected to reach the level of 3 trillion rubles. In January, it amounted to 1.76 trillion rubles. At the same time, revenue for the first month of the year is estimated at 1.4 trillion rubles, a third less than in January 2022.
