According to PeckShield, a blockchain security service, over the past week, scammers have registered several dozen tokens with the words ChatGPT and Bing in the name. Two of them have already closed, stealing funds from invested users.
PeckShield published on his Twitter, a list of cryptographic addresses of scammers who hide behind the popular services ChatGPT and Bing to steal money from users. According to the service, more than ten of them are associated with the same person.
Fraudulent cryptocurrencies with high-profile news in the name are not a new phenomenon. Previously, attackers had already enriched users by registering tokens with the word Squid at the peak of popularity of the Squid Game series and with the mention of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain after her death.
However, the scheme still works: people invest millions of dollars in projects with popular words in the title, hoping to multiply their investments.
For example, one of the tokens mentioned in PeckShield’s post rose 13,000% before collapsing 99% due to the actions of its creators.
