A study published in Clinical Cardiology states that those who suffer from insomnia are more likely to have a heart attack. This is especially true for women. Overall, people with sleep problems are 69% more likely to need emergency medical care.

According to researchers, people should prioritize getting seven to eight hours of sleep each night. Additionally, people who slept five hours or less had the highest risk of heart attack (1.38 times more often).

During the new study, the experts analyzed data from 1226 studies conducted in different countries around the world. The study group consisted of 1,184,256 adults and their mean age was 52 years.
